Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage Therapy involves the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, giving a deep massage with sensations of comfort and warmth.  The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage therapy.  The warm stones expand the blood vessels, pushing blood and unwanted waste materials through the body.  This has a sedative effect to the nervous system.  Hot stone massage is incredibly relaxing and is an extra treat for the body.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a massage technique used primarily on the feet and hands.  This technique is based on the theory that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all glands, organs, parts, and systems of the body.  By applying pressure using the thumb, fingers, and various hand techniques to the reflex areas, one can reduce stress, which promotes physiological changes in the body.

Therapeutic reflexology – Helps to relieve sinus congestion, constipation, lung congestion, foot pain related to muscular issues, etc.

General Massage Therapy

Deep Tissue Massage – This massage technique focuses on deeper layers of muscle tissue, attempting to release chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and varying pressure to specific areas.  Deep tissue massage helps to decrease or eliminate scar tissue as well.  This technique can be intense and may cause residual soreness, which generally dissipates after a day, leaving the client feeling effective relief from muscular aches and pains.

Trigger Point Therapy – Trigger points are accumulations of waste products around a nerve receptor.  Trigger points form in muscles that have been overused or injured due to an accident, injury, or surgery.  Trigger points may feel like sharp pains, dull aches, tingling pains, and needles, or may feel hot or cold.  Through specific techniques, trigger points can be relieved or eliminated.

Swedish Relaxation Massage – This is a relaxing and nurturing massage style that uses more general strokes with a firm and flowing pressure.  This type of massage is excellent for stress reduction, relaxation, increasing range of motion and flexibility, and stimulates circulation and lymphatic drainage.  This kind of massage is preferred for clients who may not be able to handle a deep massage or anyone who just wants a relaxing massage and does not require more extensive muscular work.
